Mommy books?

I’m working on a critical essay about black women/motherhood/mommy memoir writing for a magazine, and I’m looking for books by black women that deal with mothering and/or the family-paid work balancing act women do. So far, I have:

“I’m Every Woman…” by Lonnae O’Neal Parker

“Rising Up Singing…” an anthology of black women writers on motherhood, edited by Cecelie S. Berry

“Jump at the Sun”, a novel by Kim McLarin

“Having It All?” by Veronica Chambers

(I know there are some pregnancy books penned by black moms, but that’s not what I’m looking for. )

Are there others that I’m missing?

    Hi Mamalicious,

I just published my memoir called Kinky Gazpacho: Life, Love & Spain. I’m Black and a mom so I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for but you can check it out on my website at www.loritharps.com.
    Good luck!

    Hi, Lori…

I’m so glad you stopped by. I am looking for motherhood-focused memoirs, specifically, but I checked out your site, and I will definitely be in touch as I believe your experiences will contribute to what I’m hoping to say in this essay. Besides that, your book sounds like a great read!
